You may have noticed the road works around our Queenstown office and library located on Gorge Road. Don’t worry, both are still open so pop in and see our friendly team! For information on the road works underway, please visit our Major Projects page.

The Frankton and Wānaka Transfer Station facilities will close every Sunday, starting 27 November until 8 January 2023, due to staff shortages. Both facilities will be open 8.00am-5.00pm Monday to Saturday. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Short Term Accommodation

Wāhi noho pepeke

Find out everything you need to know about providing Short Term Accommodation, whether as a homestay, a holiday home or as residential visitor accommodation.

Any cancellations must be received in writing (email) prior to 30 June for it to take effect for the following rating year.

General information

Our district plan rules on visitor accommodation came into legal effect on 21 March 2019. After this date, any new residential visitor accommodation (RVA) or homestay activity must comply with the new district plan provisions, or obtain resource consent. These new rules do not affect existing consents issued, or registrations applied for, prior to 21 March 2019.

The new rules require you to ‘notify’ us of the activity prior to it commencing. We will accept registering through our website as providing appropriate notification at this time.

For enquiries about these changes that relate to the Proposed District Plan process, please get in touch with the Duty Policy Planner by emailing:
PDPenquiries@qldc.govt.nz

For enquires about the Resource Consent process, please get in touch with the Resource Consents Duty Planner by submitting the online form.

Cease registration/notification
