Find out everything you need to know about providing Short Term Accommodation, whether as a homestay, a holiday home or as residential visitor accommodation.

Any cancellations must be received in writing (email) prior to 30 June for it to take effect for the following rating year.

General information

The District Plan requires all new Residential Visitor Accommodation (RVA) or Homestay activity to comply with the relevant district plan provisions or obtain a resource consent.
The rules also require you to ‘notify’ us of the activity prior to it commencing. We will accept registering through our website as providing appropriate notification at this time.

These rules do not affect existing consents issued, or registrations applied for, prior to 30 January 2023.
