Register as a Homestay

If you operate Short Term Visitor Accommodation classed as a Homestay, you must follow the rules of our District and register with us. Non-compliance could result in penalties and changes to your rates without prior notice.

Please be aware that this registration form is not an application for resource consent. The information you provide is used by our ratings team to assess if a re-calculation of your rates is required, and by our Strategy and Policy Team to better understand the impacts of short-term letting to inform future policy and advice.

It is your responsibility to apply for a resource consent if needed. Please refer to our page on Short-Term Visitor Accommodation for more information on what’s required to operate a Homestay in Queenstown Lakes District and for guidance on how to determine if a resource consent is required. However, generally these are not required for Homestays.

Please only register using this form if you are operating a Homestay. If you’re operating a Residential Visitor Accommodation, please use the Register as Residential Visitor Accommodation.
