Building Services

Kā Whakaratonga Waihanga

Our Building Services team provides support to our local community - including builders, architects, developers, and members of the public who may not have built before. We can assist with any of your building queries such as building consent applications, inspections and compliance checks, and Building Code guidance.

Note: Certain developments will also require a Resource Consent alongside a Building Consent, so please also refer to the Resource Consents page for information.

Building consent processing delays - June 2025

Our Building Services Processing team always works as hard as possible to process building consents we receive within the statutory 20 working day timeframe.

However, following a steady few months of consents lodged across Autumn, applicants should expect some delays to current building consents waiting to be processed. Our team is working hard to get through an increased number of applications, and we hope to return to our usual turnaround for processing these consents as soon as possible.

We appreciate your support and patience in the meantime.

eDocs - Online Document System

eDocs is our online file portal which gives public access to property and consents records.

To use it for the first time, please register with your email address and create a password.

eDocs provides an open and transparent approach to accessing property information. It enables all document records not marked as confidential to be publicly accessible. It includes, for example, emails between agents applying for Building Consent and us at QLDC.
