Stage Two - Wānaka Lakefront Development Plan
Te Mahere Whakaahu mō te takutai o Wānaka
Stage Two of the Wānaka Lakefront Development Plan runs along the lake's edge between McDougall Street and Dungarvon Street.
About Stage Two
Stage Two of the Wānaka Lakefront Development Plan runs from McDougall Street to Dungarvon Street, and features a shared pathway running along the lakefront that connects Mt Aspiring Road Carpark with Wānaka's town centre.
110 new car parking spaces have been added along the lakeside of Ardmore Street, broken into sections to create view shafts and access points to the lakefront.
Stage Two features natural open spaces, with low-lying native planting, trees, and continuous access, making a greatly improved space for people and pedestrians to enjoy.
What's the latest?
Saturday 9 September 2023
On Saturday we blessed Te Ara Maumahara and Te Huruhuru’s Map on the Wānaka lakefront, accompanied by glorious spring weather and many who have helped to deliver the reimagined Millennium Pathway!
We’d like to share our thanks to the Working Group formed to help deliver these new historical tiles, Kāi Tahu and mana whenua representatives, the Upper Clutha Historical Records Society, JFC, and the original Millennium Pathway creators.
