A boil water is in place for businesses and properties across Queenstown following a number of confirmed local cases of illness caused by the protozoa, cryptosporidium. This affects all properties serviced by the Council’s Queenstown supply including Frankton, Quail Rise and Tucker Beach Rd, Kelvin Heights and Hanley’s Farm. Read more here.

From Monday 18 September there will be no parking available directly outside the Gorge Road Council office due to construction activity associated with the Town Centre Arterial Road. 2023 Arrowtown-Kawarau Ward By-Election

As a result of the resignation of Councillor Neeta Shetty, an extraordinary vacancy on the Council exists pursuant to section 177 of the Local Electoral Act 2001 (‘the Act’). The Act requires that if a vacancy occurs in the office of a member of a local authority more than 12 months before the next triennial general election, the vacancy must be filled by an election under this Act. 

Voting for the Arrowtown-Kawarau by-election closed on 5 May 2023.

2022 Local Body Election

The 2022 Local Body Election was held on Saturday 8 October with voting closing at noon. Final results were announced at 4.30pm on Thursday 13 October. The voter return was 43.05%, being 12,092 votes, excluding special votes.

Voting for the Queenstown-Wakatipu Ward by-election closed on 11 June.
