Statement from Mayor John Glover

I’ve lived at Kinloch, at the head of Lake Whakatipu, for the last 25 years and watched the district and our communities grow and change over that time. The rate of that growth is accelerating, and I see how that change is impacting those of us that call this place our home, be that just for a couple of months or for a lifetime.

And as a council, change is happening to us. New central government directives that impact what we can and can’t do or control. Spiraling costs of pretty much everything it seems, and changes in how people communicate, engage and trust.

Our challenge as council, is to somehow make a positive difference. How we describe that, work towards it, and deliver for our communities has to be fundamental to what we do over the coming 1000 days.
