Submissions for stage 3B – Rural Visitor Zone still open
Queenstown Lakes District Council is still accepting submissions for Stage 3B – Rural Visitor Zone
Submissions closed this week for Stage 3 of the Proposed District Plan but Queenstown Lakes District Council is still accepting submissions for Stage 3B – Rural Visitor Zone.
The chapters included in Stage 3 were General Industrial, Three Parks Commercial, Settlement (Townships), Wāhi Tūpuna, Residential and Business Mixed Use Design Guidelines, 100 Ballantyne Road, and a number of variations.
QLDC Planning Policy Manager Ian Bayliss thanked everyone who took the time to make a submission.
“The feedback we’ve received will be very useful in understanding how the community and affected parties feel about the proposals. Our team will now take time to summarise close to 400 digital, paper and email submissions that came in over the past eight weeks,” Mr Bayliss said.
While submissions on Stage 3 have closed, submissions are still being sought on the proposed Rural Visitor Zone, which was notified a little later as part of Stage 3B.
The Rural Visitor Zone currently covers Arthurs Point, Arcadia (near Paradise), Walter Peak Station, Cecil Peak Station, Blanket Bay, Cardrona, and the ‘Windermere’ land next to Wānaka Airport. The proposed changes aim to manage visitor accommodation and tourist recreation activities in these locations, many of which are outstanding natural landscapes.
Submissions on Stage 3B close at 5.00pm on 2 December 2019.
A summary of all Stage 3 and Stage 3B submissions and rezoning proposals will be notified and mapped in late January 2020 and will be available to make further submissions in opposition or support.
