A boil water is in place for businesses and properties across Queenstown following a number of confirmed local cases of illness caused by the protozoa, cryptosporidium. This affects all properties serviced by the Council’s Queenstown supply including Frankton, Quail Rise and Tucker Beach Rd, Kelvin Heights and Hanley’s Farm. Read more here.

From Monday 18 September there will be no parking available directly outside the Gorge Road Council office due to construction activity associated with the Town Centre Arterial Road. Our Gorge Road Council office will be open as usual. But if you’d prefer, you can make use of our online services via our website or give us a call on 03 441 0499.

The state of local emergency in Queenstown, originally declared on Friday morning after a severe weather event, has been lifted. However, some restrictions will remain in place to protect public safety as the focus turns to recovery. Full information here.

Roller Skate School

Build confidence and improve balance and coordination with this roller skating class for beginners to experienced skaters!

This class is recommended for kids 5+ years old. Please bring your own skates if you can, but skates can be hired on the day.

We're currently trying to create an adult focused class for next year, so stay tuned!

Login to your account and book.

  • Is this just for kids?

Yes this is just for children 5 years or older. However, due to the demand we're going to try and organise an adult class. If you want to reserve your spot or be notified about this, then please email alexa.peters@qldc.govt.nz.

What do I need to bring?

Please bring your own skates for your child. If you don't have skates, they can be hired but it's great for learning if they get used to their own pair!

Bringing a helmet , knee and elbow protection is also highly recommended!

    What about Rollerblading?

Rollerblades should be fine but the drills and exercises are specifically for roller skates. You'll be able to hire them if you don't have a pair. Some of the drills and exercises will be transferrable to rollerblading, however we encourage you to wear roller skates during the class.
