The COVID-19 global pandemic has and will continue to have unprecedented impacts on the social and economic wellbeing of the Queenstown Lakes District.

Undoubtedly there will be challenges for many ahead, both personally and professionally, and support needs to be in place for those affected. It's also an opportunity to pause and rethink what our economy and major industries look like in the future to ensure we have a business environment that is diverse, resilient and sustainable.

As we start to consider next steps, it is clear our district’s recovery cannot rely on one organisation or group and the Council is committed to facilitating conversations which give locals, community groups, businesses and investors to develop pathways for how we will collectively rebuild this district and create a truly prosperous community.
